People who say this have obviously never fully experienced everything Delaware has to offer.

Sometimes I think about all of the beautiful places on this earth

And then I realize that I live in Delaware

And then I get sad.

And then I get sad for you because there are some truly beautiful places in Delaware.

On a serious note. 

I know this blog is “only supposed to be for funny stuff” or something like that, but this blog also reaches a decent amount of people and I would be a fool to ignore this topic.

I go to an out-of-state college, so I haven’t been getting a lot of news about Delaware happenings. So I only just heard about the recent uptick in teen suicides in our lovely state.

What I’m about to say applies to both adults and teens…

If you know someone who is thinking of suicide or think you know someone at risk for it, talk to them. Get them help. Do something other than just brushing the notion off. Let them know they aren’t alone in this world. Let them know that somebody is there for them.

Suicide is not the answer to problems, and it honestly often causes more problems than people realize.

If you don’t feel comfortable talking to someone you feel is at risk, direct them to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. This also applies to anybody reading this who is thinking about suicide and doesn’t feel comfortable talking to family or friends. Call 1-800-273-8255. It is completely confidential, available 24/7, and they will help you.

You Know You're From DE When...This is a police scanner highlight. 

•  I was listening to the DE State Police scanner about a year or so ago, this was the highlight of the night. (Paraphrased from memory)
• Dispatch: We're receiving reports of an injured deer in the road.
• Officer: I've got it.
•  (time passes)
• Officer: I'm looking around, I can't find the deer.
• Dispatch: Could it be on the side of the road?
• Officer: I looked. It's not there. It could have got away.
• Dispatch: Or someone took it.
• Officer: I don't know. I can't find it.
•  (pause)
• Officer: I'm just going to leave now. Maybe it'll show up later.
